Col. Matt Baker, commanding officer of the Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group is awarded the Georgian Ministry of Defense medal for professional military cooperation between Republic of Georgia, United States of America and other foreign countries, as well as for participation in international peacekeeping operations, aboard Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, Feb. 24.
"I accept this award on behalf of all of us here, on behalf of a great deal of hard work within the Marines of Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group, Marine Forces Europe, U.S. Army and Georgian armed forces that have been training here. It is a great honor and tribute to receive such an award," said Baker.
Col. This exercise is the college’s capstone planning exercise. It requires the more than 200 U.S. and international field grade officers and interagency civilian students to think critically about complex regional security challenges. Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group executes and enables Security Cooperation (SC) programs, training, planning, and activities in coordination with the operating forces and Marine Air-Ground Task Forces in order to ensure unity of effort in support of U.S. Marine Corps and regional Marine Forces (MARFOR) Component Command objectives.
